The number one question that I get from my audience is, "how do you find your guests?" Welp, I've decided to share my tactics with all of you "inspiring interviewers" out there. Depending on what/why your interviewing, the first place you can look for potential guests is, wait for it......Podcasts! Thats right, the first place I go to for potential guests are podcasts that I love. I skim the episodes for guests who I think would be a great fit for the show. You know what the best part is, their website or social media platforms are almost always listed in the show notes. Another method that I use can be a bit more complicated. I've added the Clearbit Connect add on app to my gmail account, which allows me to search any business for possible email addresses. For example, search TESLA and you can
find Elon Musk's email address, however, I'm pretty sure he has changed it, but, you can find people high up in the food chain that might be able to connect you. Little hint here, if you search a big company and you're not exactly sure who to get in touch with, go after anyone with the word "marketing" or "communications" in their title and I"m sure they will be able to help you out. Social Media is another huge resource for finding potential guests. If you want to connect with a speaker/motivator, you can type in their names and this populates contact information. There are a ton of great guests out there waiting for you to ASK them to be on the show.
If you're a fan of books, a great place to search for potential authors are publicity agencies. I like to collaborate with Sara Sgarlat from Sgarlat Publicity . I hope these tips help! Stay tuned for more posts and don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast!
